Our 2023 Retreat is complete! But it was so magical, we’re working to offer another one in 2025! Email me your interest to join our 2025 waiting list!

A week to embrace life in the present moment, dream big and create magic.

Life is all about balance, and we have created a retreat that is the perfect duality of wild adventure and activity with peaceful tranquility, inward reflection and relaxation. There’s something for everyone, and you can go with the flow to float in and out of the activities that suit you. The goal is that you leave Quimixto, Mexico feeling renewed, healed, invigorated, overjoyed and full of inspiration.

Join me for meditation, yoga and mindset coaching, mindfulness expert Lara Wharton for relaxing yoga nidra and meditation and my husband, nature enthusiast Alejo Desiderio, for hiking and forest bathing for an inspirational, renewing week in Mexico. We’re offering you expert sessions, incredible excursions and deep connection.

What do we mean by freedom and vision? Find out (and get to know us better)! Check out Lara & Chel’s podcast!

Optional add-on activities: Ice bath, temescal, zipline, swimming with wild dolphins, cannabis ceremony, reiki sessions, surf board rental.

Chel Rogerson is a yoga teacher (eRYT-500), wellness coach (NBHWC-approved) and Reiki Master. She specializes in mindfulness, chakra balancing and living with intention and purpose. Once a stressed out marketing executive, Chel decided if she could create marketing plans for major companies, why not create a strategic “life plan” for herself? She turned to yoga, mindfulness and compassion to improve her wellbeing and follow her dreams of traveling and enjoying her purpose. Originally from the US, she has lived in Mexico for 6 years, making her an excellent local guide.

Lara Warton is a meditation expert and specializes in a broad range of techniques, including mindfulness, meditation, visualization practices, yoga nidra ("yogic sleep"), chakra energy work, yoga, reiki, ayuverdic medicine practices, breath-work and cannabis-assisted meditation journeys. Once an anxious, stressed-out, always-in-a-rush lawyer, Lara learned how to meditate and regularly relax her nervous system with life-changing results. She has completed thousands of hours of training and practice in mindfulness meditation, yoga, yoga nidra, reiki, psychedelic sitter training/harm reduction and integration, Buddhism, neuroscience, psychotherapy, and other healing traditions. Lara is from Canada and has been living in Mexico seasonally for 2 years.

Alejo Desiderio is a true nature and animal lover and owner of EcoHike Sayulita, which boasts over 600 five-star reviews for jungle experiences. He specializes in identifying flora and fauna, birdwatching and Shinrin Yoku, the Japanese mindfulness practice of nature bathing. Alejo is Reiki level 1 & 2 certified and approaches his tours with a full sense of connection with nature. He’s also from Argentina, so he’s happy to help you practice your Spanish! Alejo and Chel live together in Sayulita, Mexico.

A Daily Schedule Balancing Relaxation & Adventure

Each day offers meditation, yoga, time in nature, free time, optional excursions, deep relaxation and opportunities for reflection, ceremony and connection. With three buffet-style, plant-based meals and smoothies/juices to renourish and keep exploring.

Who is this retreat for?

Solo travelers, couples, friends/family. All adults are welcome.

If you are interested in taking time to slow down in nature and reduce stress this retreat is for you.

This is a wellness retreat, not a yoga retreat. You do not need to have any specific hiking or yoga fitness level, and these activities are optional. If an active morning yoga or hiking are not for you, there are still plenty of sessions to attend for mindfulness, including meditation, deep relaxation, and nature bathing meditations. If you are more adventurous and active, there’s surfing, kayaking, snorkeling and loads of daily options to explore. If you want more peace and calm, relax your day away in a hammock reading and journaling.

About the Retreat Space & Quimixto, Mexico

Mixto Villa

Mixto Villa is the exclusive, upscale and brand new sister resort to the renowned Xinalani retreat center.  The beachfront villa has it’s own bar, pool and attentive on-site service staff and, yes, wifi. All of this is located in the tropical jungle refuge which is why it’s a carefully thought out eco-retreat space that respects and conserves the beautiful nature surrounding it. We will enjoy our own private amenities while also getting to visit and use the Xinalani resort (a 5 minute walk).

Quimixto is a small, quaint village on the Pacific coast of Mexico, just south of Sayulita and Puerto Vallarta. This village is only accessible by boat, which makes it an exclusive destination with minimal tourists and remote beaches. There’s an intermediate/advanced surf break located right in front of the retreat space (though swell can be inconsistent). There are waterfalls to explore and stretches of untouched coastline. The remote location means the sky will be filled with visible stars. It’s the perfect place to escape, explore your freedom and create a vision for living your best life.

FLIGHT DETAILS:

Mixto Villa and the village of Quimixto is located in a remote area outside of Puerto Vallarta, only accessible by a short 20-minute boat ride! The hotel will arrange transportation to/from the airport (included in your all-inclusive price).

Flights should arrive at PVR - Puerto Vallarta airport

* Important: For transportation to the retreat, your arrival flight must arrive at Puerto Vallarta no later than 4:00 PM and you must plan a departure flight no earlier than 12:00 PM. If you arrive or depart outside of these times, you will need to stay in Puerto Vallarta the night before/after the retreat begins (not terrible, Puerto Vallarta is amazing!). We strongly suggest you purchase Travel Insurance in case a flight delay causes you to miss your airport transportation.

If you have read all of these details and are ready for a life changing week in Quimixto filled with wild adventure and deep relaxation, reserve today. Say yes to freedom and vision!

Retreat FAQs

Is Mexico safe?

I have been living in nearby Sayulita, Mexico for 6 years and feel it is safer than any big city in the United States. Puerto Vallarta and the surrounding tourism areas, including Quimixto, Mexico, are deemed safe for travel.

How much cash do I bring?

This all depends on your budget and shopping tendencies. The retreat includes all your meals and daily group activities. Any non-included, opt-in excursions, extra beverages or purchases through the resort can be billed on your credit card.

You will need cash (recommended $20usd per day) to tip the resort staff at the end of your stay.

You may want to bring cash to purchase snacks or souvenirs at the nearby minimarts and restaurants. Given that we are provided three meals a day with delicious smoothies and fruit juices, this spending would be minimal (maybe you just really want a diet coke or a pack of gum). If needed for the local minimarts and shops, you can exchange US dollars for pesos at the hotel.

Can I drink the water?

We do not drink the water or brush our teeth with tap water in Mexico. However unlimited purified water is available to you at the resort. Ice is also purified so frozen drinks, cold beverages and smoothies are safe.

What travel insurance do you recommend?

Check with the credit card that you book your flight with as many credit card companies include trip delay & travel emergency medical coverage. There’s also many companies that provide inexpensive coverage, such as SafetyWing or IMGlobal. I once signed up for a retreat in Bali, my flight was delayed and I arrived a day late missing the first day of the retreat. This insurance would have come in handy! In any case, I had an amazing experience. But, it’s better to be prepared.

I’m so excited to have you join us in Quimixto.
